Our Advanced Aquatics Framework branches into 3 optional pathways. Once Stage 7 of the Learn-to-Swim framework is complete, your child can choose from the following: Rookie Lifeguard Classes, Swimming Challenge Awards, Competitive Swimming.
Survival and Rescue based. The RLSS UK’s Rookie Lifeguard pathway teaches children interchangeable skills that help build their confidence, promote teamwork, and foster leadership skills. Rookie Lifeguards develop the basic survival, rescue and lifesaving skills that will empower them to respond effectively in emergency situations. The Rookie Lifeguard pathway feeds nicely into the real-life RLSS Pool Lifeguarding Qualification, once the swimmer is 16+ years and ready to start a career in Aquatics. 55-minute classes.
Skill and Stamina based. Participants will be challenged to develop a wide range of skills and stamina to achieve the Awards, focusing on good aquatic skills and stamina. Stroke style for the Swim England Swimming Challenge Awards doesn’t have to comply with Swim England law, but strokes must be co-ordinated, smooth and efficient. 55-minute classes
Technique and competition based on Swim England Aquatic Law. Stages 8-10 of Competitive Swimming are focused on coaching a swimmer's speed, stamina, and technique. These classes cover endurance sets, sprints and the perfection of competitive starts/turns. This framework is suitable for swimmers who wish to join a Swim Club, compete in the future, or enjoy swimming as a form of challenging exercise. 55-minute classes.
Our Swim England qualified instructors recognise that all children develop in their own time. The average amount of time spent in any one stage is typically between 6-18 months. However, it is not uncommon for students to move through the stages faster or slower than this. Key factors which contribute to time spent in a stage can include: Aquaphobia, over-assessment (being moved up from the previous stage too soon), attendance, swimming background.
Please note: Swimming instructors on poolside cannot have discussions with customers whilst other children are in their care. If you are ever concerned about your child's progress, please request a phone-call to discuss potential barriers and solutions.
