Leisure World – Swimming Lessons are re-starting on Monday 21 September

 Leisure World are working within the Swim England and Government COVID guidelines. Therefore there have been a few adjustments to the swim lessons and these are detailed on our website Swimming Lessons – Important Information for Customers It is essential that you please read through this important information before attending lessons.

 As an existing customer you or your children have been allocated slots in our Swimming Lesson programme starting next week.  Our staff are currently contacting all customers to give updates on the day and time of lesson slots.  If we have not yet contacted you, please bear with us, we will be contacting you very soon to make arrangements so that you or your children can return to your lessons next week.

How to register

Customers are required to register in person at Leisure World Colchester.

New Customers

You can register easily onto our swim school at the main reception at Leisure World Colchester.

You can also register your details online.

A start up fee applies to all new booked swim lessons registered.

Direct Debit customers can collect a copy of their new term dates and class times from the Welcome Zone at any time.

Existing* Customers

COVID-19 update: Paid in full customers will be contacted when we reopen. 

Existing customers can re-enrol at the main reception at Leisure World Colchester.

For Sunday and weekday evening lessons registration can be completed during lesson time at our Welcome Zone Reception.

If existing customer fail to re-enrol they will be subject to start up fee upon return

* Existing customers who are paying by Direct Debit are automatically registered onto the new term of lessons and do not need to attend the registration sessions (as long as you are happy to accept the level, day and time allocated by the Swimming School Team Leader).  Read more information below

How to pay

There are two ways to pay for your Swim School lessons:

– Spread the cost and pay monthly by Direct Debit.

– For up front payments please contact contact.leisure@colchester.gov.uk

Existing customers

Payment for lessons must be made during the advertised registration weeks in order to secure your place for the next block of lessons. Failure to pay during these weeks will result in your place being reallocated. If you have already registered to pay by Direct Debit you will automatically be allocated and confirmed a place on each block of lessons.

Details of allocated places will be on the main reception desk for you to check your allocated place with a member of staff during the registration weeks.

Priority registration week

Direct Debit customers will automatically be registered.

Paid in full customers will need to register at our main reception.

Registering for the first time

You can register onto our swim school by spreading the cost across the year by direct debt.

You will not have to pay a direct debit January, August and September.

Lessons may be paid for as an upfront payment for the block, please contact: contact.leisureworld@colchester.gov.uk for more information.

No queuing at registration (as long as you are happy to accept the level, day and time allocated by the Swim School Team Leader).

Direct Debit application forms will be sent out via email once you have registered your details online. Simply complete the application form including your bank account details and hand it in with the first month payment when you register.

Lessons commence Monday 21 September 2020 running through to Sunday 20 December 2020

Mondays – Every Monday from 21 September to 14 December 2020 except 26 October 

Tuesdays – Every Tuesday from 22 September to 15 December 2020 except 27 October 

Wednesdays – Every Wednesday from 23 September to 16 December 2020 except 28 October 

Thursdays – Every Thursday from 24 September to 17 December 2020 except 29 October

Fridays – Every Friday from 25 September to 18 December 2020 except 30 October

Saturdays – Every Saturday from 26 September to 19 December 2020 except 31 October 

Sundays – Every Sunday from 27 September to 20 December 2020 except 1 November

Please note the car park at Leisure World is, on occasions, very busy due to events in Charter Hall. Please allow extra time to travel & park prior to lessons.

Direct Debit (FAQs)

Do I need to inform you if I change my bank details after I have signed up for the Direct Debit Scheme?

Yes, please inform us immediately if you change your bank detail

You will need to complete a new direct debit mandate.

What happens if my Direct Debit payment fails?

If your Direct Debit payment fails for any reason on 1st of the month alternative payment will need to be made. Fees may apply see full terms and conditions of the scheme.

Failure to make alternative payment will ultimately mean that we cancel the place(s) on the Swimming Lesson programme.

What happens if I cancel my Direct Debit?

If we are informed by your bank that the Direct Debit arrangement has been cancelled, your place on the lessons will be suspended and you or your children are no longer eligible to attend the swimming lessons under the scheme until alternative payment arrangements have been made. Fees may apply see full terms and conditions of the scheme.

Failure to make alternative payment will ultimately mean that we cancel the place(s) on the Swimming Lesson programme.

Can I pay for more than one child by Direct Debit?

Yes, you will need to complete the Swimmer Details form with details of all of the children you wish to pay for and this will be called in one amount. You will receive written confirmation of the Direct Debit reference, amount and schedule of payments for each swimmer.

I am an adult wishing to enrol on swimming lessons can I pay by Direct Debit?

Yes, complete the same application form and complete the adult swimmer details on the Swimmer Details form.

You can also add a second adult swimmer.

Do I have to pay by Direct Debit or can I pay for the next block of lessons in full at enrolment?

You are welcome to pay for the entire next block of lessons at enrolment. The Direct Debit scheme has been introduced to give you the option to spread your payments if you wish.

Direct Debit prices are based on 41 weeks of swimming lessons per year.  This means that whether you pay for lessons in full at enrolment or by Direct Debit you will be paying exactly the same amount per lesson.

Can I enrol for Swimming Lessons online?

At the present time we are unable to offer on-line enrolments. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Price Increases

If you have signed up to pay by Direct Debit you will be informed in writing a minimum of 10 days prior to the payment date of any price increase.

Swimming Lesson & Direct Debit Terms & Conditions 

PRINCIPLE TERMS

This agreement is an agreement between you the Swimming Lesson Payer and Colchester Borough Council/Leisure World Colchester (“the Club”) This agreement commences once you have indicated your acceptance in the Declaration section of Swim Lesson enrolment sign up process. 

Leisure World Colchester / Colchester Borough Council provides direct debit payment services to you and administers our agreement with you, in consideration for which you agree to pay all the fees and charges associated the Swimming Lessons booked by you and set out below.

FEES AND CHARGES

Your obligations to Leisure World Colchester/Colchester Borough Council include payment of the Direct Debit Payment Amount due on the 1st Direct Debit payment date and on the 1st of each month thereafter (except for January, August and September) regardless of non-attendance, except where the Agreement is cancelled in accordance with the cancellation terms below or under your statutory cancellation rights.

AUTOMATIC RENEWAL

Your Direct Debit Payments will automatically continue collecting the Direct Debit Payment Amount every month (except January, August and September). Your Swimming Lessons will be extended by one month for each payment (“Renewal Period”). This renewal Direct Debit payment amount may only be amended if we advise you in writing giving not less than 30 days notice.

You may prevent the Automatic Renewal at any time by giving notice to Leisure World Colchester on 01206 282000 or contact contact.leisureworld@colchester.gov.uk (you should give us not less than 30 days notice). When the final payment has been taken you should also cancel your Direct Debit mandate directly with your bank.

CANCELLATION

You have the right to cancel this agreement at any time giving Leisure World Colchester no less than 30 days notice.

If we are informed by your bank that the direct debit arrangement has been cancelled, your place on the lessons will be suspended and you or your children are no longer eligible to attend the swimming lessons under the scheme until alternative payment arrangements have been made. Additional fees and charges will apply as set out above.

If your Direct Debit fails we will contact you to inform you to arrange for payment by an alternative method and if necessary complete a new Direct Debit Mandate. Additional fees and charges will apply as set out above.

Failure to make alternative payment will ultimately mean that we cancel the place(s) on the Swimming Lesson Programme.

GENERAL TERMS

If we take no action or let you off any breach of this agreement or give you extra time to pay or comply, it will not stop us enforcing the terms of this agreement strictly at a future date.

We may assign the benefit of this agreement and our rights thereunder to a third party on notice to you. Your rights under this agreement will not be prejudiced.

We will do our best to resolve any disputes over this agreement. If you wish to take court proceedings against us you must do so within the United Kingdom. Relevant UK law will apply.

If any part of this agreement is disallowed or found to be ineffective by any court or regulator, the other provisions shall continue to apply

We may terminate this agreement with immediate effect on notice to you if you are in breach of the Clubs Rules (i.e. Stealing or other criminal activities within the facility). In this event you will not be liable to pay any further Direct Debit Payments, provided such breach is not deemed by us to have occurred primarily in order to qualify you for a refund.

Swimming Lesson applications are subject to approval. We reserve the right to refuse an application for Swimming Lessons.

Minimum age for the payer of any Direct Debit is 16 years.

Refunds are not available on the Swimming Lesson scheme.

Non-attendance or missed weeks by the customer will not be subject to any refund.

The Centre Management reserves the right to change or cancel the programme sessions/facilities without prior notice where necessary.

Promotions will not be pre-advertised and refunds or credits cannot be given retrospectively for existing customers.

All new swimmers being enrolled onto our swimming lessons for the first time must also have a Swimming Lesson Registration Form completed detailing important additional information relating to any medication or medical conditions.

Once a swimmer is enrolled onto our Swimming Lesson programme it is the responsibility of the customer, or a parent/guardian if customer under 16 year of age, to ensure that any changes to medical history and/or medication or any other change of circumstance is reported in writing to Leisure World Colchester. (Change of details forms are available from Main Reception and will be available at future swimming enrolments for this purpose).

Leisure World Colchester reserves the right to withdraw the Swimming Lesson Direct Debit scheme at any time.

Leisure World does not accept responsibility for any postal applications lost in the post or not received.
