About me:

I very much enjoy making workouts interesting, enjoyable & time efficient, encouraging clients to achieve their goals and have fun doing it. When training myself, I particularly enjoy circuits, kettlebells and running as well as keeping fit teaching regular classes

What I can offer you:

I started working in the gym in 1999 so have many years of experience. I have trained a broad range of clients including pre/post-natal, sports specific and weight management and look at every client as an individual

About me:

I have been working at Activa for 4 years gaining a lot of knowledge through experience of training a varied client base. A large emphasis of this being based around improving body composition and weight loss. I have a varied background in training and sports which includes; 10 years of boxing, 10 years of weight training, 18 months of olympic lifting and 3 years of running.

What I can offer you:

I can offer a wide and varied level of knowledge, as well as an eye for detail in execution of lifts and movement. Correct form and posture is essential for your workouts as well as day to day life. I am someone who strives to push clients to limits and work rate they wouldn’t achieve on their own, but also strive to make the sessions enjoyable, fun and motivating.

About me:

I’ve been a Personal Trainer for 10 years now working at Leisure World. I’ve actively been at the gym for 25 years so when qualified as a Personal Trainer it was a natural place to be. From a very young age I was always into sports and fitness as it gives you confidence, wellbeing, a feel good factor and the opportunity to meet like-minded people with the same interests. I teach various classes but my passion is Spinning and Kettlebells.

About me:

After going through my own fitness journey and losing 4 stone, I gained a love for health and fitness and wanted to share my passion and help others to achieve their goals. Since then I have established myself as a Personal Trainer.

I completed my level 3 Personal Training qualification and started up my own circuits classes in the local area.

I enjoy weight training and trying to push myself. I also run and completed my first half marathon last year with my ultimate aim being to run the London marathon.

About me:

I originally joined Activa Gym at Leisure World to lose the large amount of weight I gained during two pregnancies, I soon got the exercise ‘bug’ and it helped me to regain my lost confidence and fuels the passion that now drives me! I spent so much time in the gym I thought that it would make sense to work here, so I gained my level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification and I’ve now worked here for 5 years

What I can offer you:

I love all aspects of training but if I had to choose it would be fat loss/high intensity training, also inspiring women to gain confidence in using weights and not shying away from lifting heavier more challenging weights. (It won’t make you look like a man!) I believe this combined with the correct nutrition is the key to a fit/healthy toned body.

I have worked in Activa since 2001.  The majority of this time has been in Leap which is an Exercise Referral Scheme, giving prescribed exercise to people who have been referred by medical professionals due to a variety of different medical conditions.During my time here, I have gained a wealth of experience which has allowed me to have the understanding and empathy required, to work with people whose medical conditions have had a lasting effect on their daily lives and give them the correct exercise prescription to provide them with help to alleviate their symptoms.

I have been working as a Personal Trainer, fitness instructor and self-employed sports massage therapist for 17 years, and the last 7 years as an Exercise Referral Specialist on the LEAP Scheme at Leisure World Colchester. I compete in triathlon and have a mixed sporting background. I am passionate about exercise and am particularly interested in the technical aspects of exercise and sport, achieving optimum performance with maximum efficiency and minimum risk of injury. So if you suffer muscle or joint problems and struggle with exercise I am likely to be interested in helping you. Equally if you are looking to maximise sporting performance I will be keen to help.

Having always had a passion for sport, fitness and helping others, when the opportunity arose to train as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor it seemed like the natural progression. As well as being in the gym lifting weights and enjoying a variety of classes I run regularly and enjoy completing triathlons too.

Eat right to feel right

Book an appointment with a Personal Trainer for a nutrition and diet assessment.

The assessment includes:

  • Body measurements (Body fat using skin fold analysis can be done on request at booking)
  • Estimation of your calorie requirements and a breakdown of nutritional requirements specific to you.
  • Analysis and advice on your current diet based on a food diary.
  • Advice and information on supplementation, for example Whey Protein, Creatine and pre-training supplements.

Based on this information we can give advice regarding your diet and nutrition to help compliment your training. We will not recommend FAD diets but instead give you honest and impartial information that is beneficial for your long term goals.
